CRISTINA SCHIAVI, b. Buenos Aires,1954.
Lives and works in Buenos Aires. Trained in painting, sculpture, architecture, and design, she has been exhibiting work since the nineteen-eighties. She has participated, often as a cofounder, in a number of political and artist-run projects: along with Tamara Stuby and Esteban Álvarez, she created El Basilisco artists residency; in 2009, she and artist Juan Tessi cofounded Mark Morgan Pérez Garage, an exhibition venue in Buenos Aires. She has curated projects for the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), the Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat Collection, and the OSDE Foundation. She has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Her work is in the collections of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Buenos Aires), the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, and the Museo Castagnino + MACRO (Rosario, Santa Fe).
